Waking in the Lap of Lincoln
*
“A House divided against itself cannot stand”*
yet the only door open was Unification via Division.
It had to be maddening.
If one likens confusion to that of a disassembled puzzle
Then such confusion is possibly the product of inner conflict of a convoluted mind.
To see the picture on the box cover one must first separate
the corners from the edges then gather the like colours.
The beauty of words is their ability to move us…
Prayer is fine provided one moves their feet thereafter.
If Lincoln is represented by the edges, and if the words of Lincoln represent the corners or cornerstone…
The words that haunted Lincoln must have been
“We hold these truths to be Self-Evident…
That all Men are created Equal.”
It was the part of the Declaration that was meant to be finished, later.
It is the foundation of the principles of Life, Liberty
and the pursuit of Happiness
endowed by our Creator as Unalienable Rights.
The unavoidable thought of Unification through Division,
the illogical and unreasonable notion of such a thought
had to have been maddening.
Yet before one puts the puzzle together, one must divide it in an organized manner.
When Lincoln reached for the colors he found what he believed all along. Each is vital to the beauty and appreciation to the finished product.
The finished product is a nation that lives up
to truths that are Self-Evident.
It is accomplished by placing one piece in at a time.
Not about Black or White
not about Industrialization vs. Agrarian.
It's about the shade of Freedom
It's about the shadows and silhouettes
The convergence of light thrust into darkness
The colors of the puzzle represent
“That all men are created equal”
which eerily makes the civil war about
ownership and servitude, about the color Green.
Abraham Lincoln: Walking in His Shoes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0u9lLyZRmH0
Each morning I awaken looking up from the Lap of Lincoln wondering
how vibrant the finished product must be.
Placing one piece in at a time…
It’s absolutely maddening… gjf

Honda Pilot Commercial
The question is...
The troll asks
"What as large as a mountain but as small as a ?
The Answer is...
Which reminds me of a fellow they called Abe who wandered about talking to people, reading copious amounts of literature and studying human nature in general.
Anyway as the story goes he mastered decifering folks through non-verbal communication, reading body language, discerning voice inflection and analyzing word choice to name but a few.
People thought him an unattractive, lanky and odd looking fellow. He also mumbled to himself quite often.
Countless times he'd repeat this montra
" I will be prepared and my time will come".
I suppose that's why people thought him odd;
He suffered from severe headaches along with bouts of depression.
Anyway, he was able to read people real well and had a gift for gab.
His favorite story was the legend of the keeper. It seems there's this fork in the road guarded by a keeper.
He won't let you pass unless you ask the right question first.
People listening to the tale would jump in to correct the storyteller saying " you mean he had to answer the question to pass.
Ol' Abe, he'd hold firm shaking his head saying let me finish.
That was Abe, congenial yet firm and confident. Knowing people as he did, the interruption always came at the same point in the story.
Abe would nonchalantly say "the question is the answer".
At this point he'd have people scratching their heads with a dazed look on their face.
Right on cue his compassion would shine through;
as he explained the meaning to ensure his message was understood.
The guardian of the fork can be either from the Land of Truth or the Land of Lies.
The proper question asked is the path to the Land of the Truth.
Someone would always repeat the querry.
" What question can the traveler ask to reveal the road to the Land of the truth?
Abe would just nod. Invariably the last words would be Really? Honest Abe...
Problems...When there yours they're as a big as a mountain.
..When there someone elses they're as small as a mole hill. gjf

JL Giorgio interview
Watching Over Me
Critically acclaimed breakout novel
This little known fiction titled "Watching Over Me" by JL Giorgio caught my attention on so many levels. As I read this novel depicting unimaginable horror, I surmised the reason it was deemed fiction, but later discovered I couldn't be more wrong.
Moreover I found myself compelled, as did others sharing reviews, of the chemical reaction of fear, terror, determination and martyrdom to mention but a few. Finally, what drove me to the edge was the readers' emotional investment in justice being done. I'm describing typically passive in nature; "law abiding" ethical people transformed into someone looking for blood vengeance. They totally bought in, as did I.
I'm anxious to get right to it, but first thanks for the chance to ask some very personal intimate questions.
Question:
As one reads your account of fear there is an overwhelming sense of fact as opposed to fiction. Was it simply creative license that was the determining factor for classifying the book as fiction or the process of veracity for non-fiction works?
Answer:
How can we measure fear and the chemical reaction in the human spirit? What we are capable of enduring is an individual journey. I can only answer that question from my own experiences.
Without giving too much away to those who have not yet read my story I can tell you, somehow my terror was overpowered by my determination to accomplish my goal "within the law" (although honestly I wanted to say, Screw the law) and rescue my grandson any way I could.
Fear can only get in the way is what I constantly told myself. I did have to push past it every day and trust the darkness would lead to light but it was not without doubt, struggle and indecision. I was in another place...somehow I detached from my human body and my raw emotions.
My daughter affectionately called me "Rice Krispies" She said I snapped, crackled, and all she was waiting for was the "POP".
Q:
The level of intensity, the combination of fear and terror, the unknown elements of what's to follow, the suspense. I can't imagine living life day after day under those conditions, yet I think the reader gleaned that from your portrayal. Is that the product of truth; living your life one second at a time?
A:
In answer to the many times I've been asked, Yes, I did take creative license, but not as the reader would expect. How much is true...all of it...but it has been played down quite a bit...I am still protecting my family.
Too many horrible, unspeakable things happened for me to put down on paper and bare my soul entirely for all to read. So much is still kept inside me. I would rather my family does not know the true extent of the darkness of addiction and where it lead me.
That's a journey I want no one to share...that's mine...The important thing is that I hope by sharing as much as I did it will help someone else who is stumbling along the path of the unknown and give them faith and hope...that all things are possible if you believe and that no matter how long or hard the journey...we are never truly alone.

My dear friend from Romania,
On behalf on the 300 odd million residents of the great nation of the United States of America;
I offer the Olive branch of President Elect Obama in the spirit of the democratic process. In the event circumstances do not work out to your approval, I shall request renegotiation to the notice of revocation of our independence.
Presently 95% “of the people” are experiencing an economic shakedown by those elected officials of whom you refer to as incompetent. I assure you a great deal of the 285 million average Americans of which I refer, were attempting to employ your model of “21 hints to a happy life.”
Unfortunately, greed and politics pervaded the American dream.

With respect to Politics, I think you would tend to agree those in power tend to be reluctant to relinquish such power…
With respect to greed, I think you would tend to agree it goes hand in glove with the capitalistic model. (See Adam Smith)
Item 13 is a deal breaker. It is non-negotiable. All other items are on the table.

The Knightmare Scenario
The chosen knight in shining armor, whom characteristically rides bareback on his white horse, is saddling up for his nightmarish ride to save the damsel in distress. Having assembled and conferred with the sagacious Round table elite, tactics are under review on just what to do. Failure not being an option, the ominous and daunting task of scaling the ivory tower has a history of being insurmountable. As the fairy tale goes, the only way out of this mess may be for the broad to let her hair down, in 21st century terms of course.

As American history dictates, the people invariably and painstakingly resolve calamity generated by government policy, incompetence, and/or corruption. Presently the nation is suffering from a catastrophic hat trick. Everything should be put upon the table, using the world as a working model. Controversy and antiquated yardsticks aside, the new world disorder should include making the punishment not more damaging than the crime. It has become painfully evident we can no longer continue our present course; tax dollars fighting Americans engaged in "illegal" activity. Simply stated, funding both sides of a war!

With Governors, Senators and Representatives being convicted of capital crimes;
With the White House strutting about creating the perfect storm nightmare scenario; Worldwide...
With the American worker praying for another extension to unemployment benefits, (because jobs are out of the question- too lofty a goal)
The ethics of the people, a nation fleeced by the system of the pursuit of happiness, not to mention their life savings;
The ethics of the American people are far superior and admirable than their so called leaders.

The question was posed; Is this article in support of legalization of drugs? The article was composed in a broader sense.
Moral banckruptcy being the primary issue. Double standards based on prominence in society. Wall street vs. Main, White collar vs. Blue, Connected vs disconnected.
This is the minutia we as Americans are forced to cut through to get to the crux.
Everything has to be put on the table when the table is all that's left.
Is the punishment worse than the crime? It depends on your station in society.
Point for Argument; Mr. Phelps, dedicated his entire life, won 8 golds, did more good for the nation in a matter of days than the previous administration did in years.
Sure he gets to keep his gold, but does he deserve to be publicly humiliated,
be stripped of his dignity, lose the Kellogs deal along with his cape and tights?

9/11 of Wall Street
http://geo-dollarsense.blogspot.com/
The 9/11 of Wall Street
Do not look now folks but the towers are falling once more, only this time it is in slow motion.
In a sadistic twist of irony,
the Twin Towers, the symbol of capitalism,
are crumbling to the ground.
A circumstance seemingly incredulous in fact may be true;
the very definition of paradox.
The difference this time is the principles of a weak foundation, specifically greed, as the source bringing down the house.
What is being described as a very big day for Wall Street and the world is lesson learned by civilizations throughout history.
At present the conversation is how big is too big to fail?
Until this time, the scope has been limited to financially viable corporations concerned about fiduciary responsibility to its shareholders.
When you go to the video, it becomes clear the line has shifted to a scale of monumental proportions.
Talk about your bridge to nowhere.
Seven years have gone.
The memory seared in our minds.
Where we were on that fateful day, starring at the screen, wondering when the next shoe would drop
as we watched the next Tower fall.
The initial attempt at the structure was in vain,
the successful attack removed the symbol of strength, and now it appears the weed is being pulled out at the roots.
Therefore, the words resound throughout the nation, ‘you’re on our own’…
The ramifications of the fallout are exponential;
those whom had not are no worse off, those used to living the high life are taking a haircut.
By the numbers,
the three to five million unemployed citizens of the USA may have doubled overnight.
Now may be too early for a wake up call and
too late to set the alarm,
or vice versa.
The U.S. Financial Markets are learning a lesson
far too many people have been living far too long; distinguishing liquidity from solvency to regain stability.
Such is the success story of E-Bay, the masses raising capital to meet their financial means.
So at the end of the day,
when the dust has settled and the smoke has cleared
only one element stands alone:
It is an election year.
Don’t tell me it’s not worth fighting for…gjf

The Face of Tragedy
Hurricane Katrina provided a myriad of valuable lessons for a vast cross-section of America. The discussion could easily revolve around the blatant disregard of forewarnings with respect to the integrity of levees in New Orleans. The discussion might focus upon appointing qualified professionals in vital Government posts. Instead, the forum will be examining the impact of placing a face on tragedy.
Undoubtedly, when a face is associated with a tragedy the impact takes on monumental proportions. The magnitude of such an event has a tendency to migrate from empathy to fear. Conventional wisdom being, if that happened to them it could happen to me. The danger of this attitude is its future ramifications with respect to credibility and confidence. The possibility exists of far reaching effects having exponential consequences upon specific segments of society.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seGhTWE98DU
What did it for me was watching CNN coverage during the early stages of the unfathomable scenario unfolding right before America’s eyes. If I’m not mistaken Anderson Cooper was providing an overview of the overwhelming devastation he presently was witnessing. At some point a man, I believe his name to be Hardy Jackson, wandering on screen obviously in shock.
Mr. Jackson, while trying to convey his personal tragedy to America revealed the senselessness of terror he recently experienced. Mr. Cooper, recognizing the man was in shock, transformed from a detached newscaster to a compassionate humanitarian instantaneously. The moment elicited intense emotion thereby placing a face on a tragedy as America watched in disbelief.

Sorry; unable to find cnn coverage...or just wrong!
Mr. Jackson’s heartbreaking nightmare was relived in America’s living rooms throughout the land. As the water rose, he and his wife ascended within their home, until they could go no higher. After literally hanging on for dear life for hours, she finally let go of her husband’s hand. When Anderson asked, “where is she now” with a tentative hesitation in his voice, Hardy simply said “she gone”. The face of tragedy will never be removed from New Orleans and she’ll be forever known as Katrina…gjf

Curious george in Flushing
Circa early 1960’s, flashback to my earliest memories. Prior to being able to speak, somehow I knew I’d come from a far better place than here. Nothing felt right in this world, especially the sense of purity. Where I’d come from wasn’t the question, where was I now is what consumed my thoughts. Of course, I later realized I am indeed in Flushing or Corona or was it Queens. If ever there were a more fitting name for these surroundings, I’d go with Flushing. All one needs to do is a Google Earth search to see the name is fitting. Keep in mind I firmly believed I had come from some other world, and on that point, the jury’s still out. Thus began the saga of Curious George.
Beginnings shape our destiny, our expectations and yes our limitations. Being clueless on how I landed on Otis Avenue didn’t exactly help my disposition. This reason lends credence toward my outlook of skeptical optimism. It has an oxymoronic ring to it making the term all the more attractive. I see the glass as half full but realize instantaneously, that is at any given moment, will change to half-empty. The roots of emotional survival are based on a foundation of principles. Once those principles are compromised or threatened, we are forced to deal with internal conflict. The proverbial ingrown hair lying under the surface of the skin. Peeling away the layers is painful, nonetheless essential to relieving the symptom. So break out the tweezers and yank out that sucker.
Since Flushing is a key element to the compound that is my life, I'll explain the analytical process of decisions I‘ve made along the way. Why the career path, why the women, the whys and why nots of life. The best recipe I can come up with is one part Common sense, two parts logic and reason, with a dash of insanity.
